PHOENIX -- Phoenix police arrested a man in connection with the hit-and-run death of a woman at Northern Avenue and 11th Street nearly three weeks ago.
Christopher W. Chevalier, 45, was arrested Thursday morning in Scottsdale. He is in Fourth Avenue Jail, facing one count each of manslaughter, tampering with evidence and leaving the scene of a fatal injury collision.
Anna Blaze, 41, was walking with a friend on March 3 when a car jumped the curb and slammed into her then left the scene. She died the next morning.
Witnesses told police the suspect was a middle-aged man driving a red, late '70s or '80s European-style convertible.
Chevalier, who owns the vehicle, came forward on March 4 and authorities took custody of the Alfa Romeo. He did not provide any information to police.
Following an investigation, police said they now believe that Chevalier was the driver.
Police said part of the windshield had been removed and detectives found it in a trash can while serving a search warrant.
