PHOENIX – A man shot and killed a burglar at his home near Cactus Road and 35th Avenue Saturday night, according to Phoenix police.

Sgt. Steve Martos said the suspect had forced entry into the home and was in the process of removing things when the homeowner, an armed security guard, arrived at about 10 p.m.

The homeowner found the suspect coming out of one of the bedrooms. A confrontation occurred and the homeowner shot the suspect then left the house to call police.

Officers entered the home and found the suspect, later identified as Aaron Fisher, 22, inside and unresponsive. He was transported to an area hospital where he died.

The case will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for review.
