WADDELL, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has released a sketch of a person of interest in an attempted abduction in Waddell Tuesday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, an unidentified black male attempted to abduct an 8-year-old boy at a park located at 182nd Lane and Mountain View Road, which is adjacent to Mountain View Elementary School.

The boy was walking to school shortly before 9 a.m. when the man tried to pull him into a large SUV.

While the child was kicking and screaming, his 10-year-old brother and 12-year-old friend started throwing rocks at the would-be kidnapper, according to MCSO deputies. The young boy was able to get away unharmed.

The SUV is described as black or green with body damage and ripped interior seats. Witnesses believe the vehicle was a Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban.

The person of interest is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, facial hair/beard and short dark hair.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the person of interest or the incident is asked to contact MCSO at 602-876-1602.
