UPDATE on 12/26: Peoria police located Gary Knudsen deceased in his car Saturday morning.

Officers found him near 91st Avenue and Union Hills Drive around 11:45 a.m.

No word on his cause of death.

ORIGINAL: PEORIA - A Peoria family is looking for their missing husband and father after he went out on Christmas Eve morning and never returned.

According to his family, 71-year-old Gary Lamar Knudsen has not been seen or heard from since he left to go to the Barnes and Noble south of Bell Road near 63rd Avenue. They say that's completely out of character for him.

Knudsen and his wife of 41 years live in the Westbrook Village neighborhood near 91st Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

Knudsen, a local business owner, has operated Interstate Steel in the Sunnyslope area for 30 years. He recently had gall bladder surgery and needs heart medication, which he does not have with him.

He is 6' 4'' tall, 200 pounds, with brown eyes and a full head of white hair. He was last seen wearing dark blue jeans, a dark sports shirt with orange and purple pinstripes over a white undershirt, and black and white striped Adidas shoes. He was driving a gray 2001 VW Silver Beetle with Arizona plate 240WXG.

Searches of hospitals, morgues, hotels and crash reports have turned up nothing. There has been no suspicious activity on his credit cards and calls to his cell phone go directly to voicemail.

If you have seen him please contact the Peoria Police Department.
