PHOENIX -- It was all about animals at the University of Phoenix Stadium Saturday for The Phoenix Pet Expo, and hundreds of exhibitors were there to provide information and resources for the furry and feathered.
“There's cats, there's bunnies, there's ferrets, there's a lot of snakes and lizards...we're open to all pets,” said Patti Welch, Director of Marketing for Amazing Pet Expos.
But it was the dogs that stole the show. They were pushed in strollers, in wagons, and even showing off skills for the dock-diving “Ultimate Air Dogs” contest.
There were also plenty of pets looking for homes at the Phoenix Pet Expo and the event provided the perfect place for those looking to add a new furry friend to the family.
One Dog At A Time Rescue was able to come to the Pet Expo with the help of a sponsor and Vice President Kristi Church was grateful for the opportunity to find their dogs a home among those who came out to the event.
“We wouldn't have had the opportunity to come we probably raised close to $500 today and we found two forever homes so that is really huge for us,” said Church.
The all-foster dog rescue was started in August of last year, according to Church.
“So having this exposure and having the opportunity to come to something like this especially because we're new...we wouldn't have been able to afford that,” said Church. “So we are very blessed to be here. We are so honored.”
The event also featured shows and special guest appearances from celebrity pet expert Harrison Forbes and Animal Planet's “Pit Boss” star Shorty Rossi.
More than 200 exhibitors were at the event providing information and resources for pets and their owners.
Amazing Pet Expos has shows all around the country throughout the year and more information can be found on their website.
