PHOENIX -- Makeovers, mixed drinks, and home improvement techniques were just some of the great features that Arizona’s Ultimate Women’s Expo brought to the Phoenix Convention Center this weekend.
Women lined up to taste Skinny Girl brand wines and mixed drinks and laughed with Niecy Nash as she delivered the Women’s Expo Keynote Address on Sunday. Fans also had the chance to meet Nash as she signed copies of her book, "It's Hard to Fight Naked."
Caroline Manzo of Bravo TV's "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" was also scheduled to speak Sunday at the expo and sign copies of her book "Let Me Tell You Something: Life as a Real Housewife, Tough-Love Mother, and Street-Smart Businesswoman" at the Books Pavillion.
The event was a great opportunity to get the girls together for a day of fun and shopping. It was also an opportunity to get information about more serious issues relating to health and wellness.
The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) set up a booth at the expo to raise awareness and provide women with information that could potentially save their life.
“We actually had a lady last year tell us that we saved her life because she knew nothing about ovarian cancer until she got one of our symptom cards and went through it and then talked to her doctor and they found it,” said Debbie Robbins of the NOCC. “Not saying that everyone will get it because they have those symptoms but it just makes women more aware to look for these kind of things.”
Thousands of women gather at these events and it gives exhibitors a chance to provide information and products targeted to women and families.
The event was Saturday and Sunday at the convention center but if you missed out you can still plan for the next expo coming to the Phoenix Convention Center in October.
