The Valley woman found guilty of murdering her ex-husband nearly five years ago has been sentenced to life in prison.

The jury spared Orbin the death penalty, saying they did not want to orphan her son.

"He's a minor right now," said Stan Brown, one of the jurors. "When he's 18, he can see her, and make is own decisions whether or not [he wants to do that]. If we put her to death, he may never have that opportunity. So, we watned to leave that window open for him."

Orbin was convicted of killing her husband on his 45th birthday. That was back in 2004. She then dumped his dismembered body. Only a portion of it was ever found.

Later this month, a judge will decide if Orbin, a former show girl, will be eligbile for parole after serving 25 years.
