PHOENIX -- The area most of us are used to calling "The East Valley" now has a new name.
The group "East Valley Partnership" has unveiled a new term for the area, which includes Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert and Queen Creek, among others.
The area will now be called "Phoenix East Valley". The slightly different phrasing is supposed to help with marketing the area to businesses and high-paying jobs.
A new logo is being featured as well. The partnership says this gives the area a formal identity.
Some say the term "East Valley" was coined by the "Mesa Tribune" 32 years ago.
The East Valley Partnership is a coalition of civic, business, educational and political leaders dedicated to the economic development and promotion of the East Valley of Greater Phoenix, Arizona. Members actively advocate in areas such as economic development, education, transportation and infrastructure, arts, behavioral health, and other areas.
