SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale police have released the 911 tapes surrounding the incident where a naked man allegedly carjacked a Prius and caused a multi-car crash.
It started when callers reported a crash near Via de Ventura and Hayden Road Friday afternoon, and saw one of the drivers get out of his car and take off his clothes.
"Oh my God! He's naked crawling on top of his car," said one caller.
Police say that man is 45-year-old John Brigham, who allegedly approached a woman driving a Prius and carjacked the vehicle.
"You have to get the cops out here, you have to get an ambulance," said another caller. "I'm on the corner of Via de Ventura and Hayden, and this guy is just nuts."
Scottsdale police say Brigham drove the car the wrong way down Shea Boulevard traveling at a high rate of speed.
"There was someone driving on Shea Boulevard going the wrong direction, it seemed like 60 miles per hour," said a third caller.
Police say Brigham rolled the Prius and caused a multiple car wreck near 90th Street and Shea, injuring several people including a pregnant woman.
One of the injured victims, who did not want to be interviewed, told 3TV that he was in the worst pain of his life.
Brigham is also in the hospital. When he is released, he will be booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
Brigham faces multiple charges including felony hit-and-run and carjacking.
Police believe that drugs or mental illness contributed to his behavior.
