PHOENIX – A motorcyclist died after crashing into a vehicle in Phoenix Tuesday afternoon.

Police said a motorcycle and a four-door sedan collided near 28th Street and Union Hills, sparking a fire just before 5 p.m.

According to Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos, the driver of the sedan was turning onto 28th Street and did not see the motorcycle, causing the collision in the intersection.

Police do not believe the driver of the sedan was impaired.

Martos said it is unclear who was at fault.

The driver of the car was not seriously injured, but the motorcyclist was taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital with severe trauma. He died a short time later.

The name of the motorcyclist has not been released. He was described as a white male, approximately 26 years old.
