MESA -- A Mesa mother accused of leaving her young sons home alone was sentenced Thursday to three months in jail and 20 years probation.
Samantha Abernathy, 21, was taken into custody on Wednesday.
She had been wanted for a week after prosecutors say she failed to show up in court.
Investigators said Abernathy left her two boys, ages 2 and 3, by themselves in her apartment while she went to visit an ex-boyfriend in June.
The kids were found eating dog food and there were feces and urine stains all over floor in the children's bedroom.
