LAVEEN, Ariz. -- A Valley mother is distraught after she says her four-year-old son was left alone on a bus for at least 45 minutes.
“Minimum 45 minutes,” said Jennifer Ponce.
The school bus was supposed to drop off four-year-old Floyd Smith at Laveen Elementary Monday, but Jennifer says the bus was parked at a bus depot and left empty – except for her son.
“The doors shut, windows shut,” said Jennifer who says the school gave her no clear answers about what happened that day.
“Everything’s vague,” she said.
Floyd, who has special needs, was eventually brought to the elementary school.
3TV reached out to the Laveen School District and although there was no reply Jennifer may have evidence on her phone.
Two voicemails from the school, one asking for someone to call back in regards to Floyd being absent. The other voicemail was to inform Jennifer that her son was left on the bus.
“I’m…horrified to even find out how long he was on the bus,” said Jennifer. “I want to make sure something is done and I’m not sure what that something is yet.”
Jennifer said she will not let her son attend any school in the Laveen District at least until the matter is resolved.
