Mesa police investigating officer involved shooting

MESA - An officer from the Mesa Police Department was involved in an officer involved shooting near Higley and University.

Police said Mesa officers responded to a residence in the area to assist a 21-year-old female with an order of protection.

Officers did speak to the 22-year-old man to serve him the order, but he then produced a knife and an officer discharged his firearm fatally wounding the man inside his home.

No officers were injured.

Neighbors told 3TV the suspect was a bad neighbor. Neighbors said they have frequently called the police about loud music and loud cars, suspect had a fight with a neighbor and has beaten his girlfriend.
