PHOENIX -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies served a search warrant on a North Phoenix business Wednesday morning.
Deputies surrounded the Ameri-Fab building in the area of 21st Avenue and Williams Drive (north of Deer Valley Road) at about 7:15 a.m.
According to investigators, an Ameri-Fab employee called the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office tip line about six months ago to report suspected identity theft.
Four out of 10 people suspected of being in the country illegally and committing identity theft to get jobs were taken into custody, said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Deputies were still searching the business.
This morning's investigation is the 33rd of its kind.
Ameri-Fab is a light and specialty steel-fabrication company. It manufactures ramps, stairs and step units, security products, handrails, fencing and gates.
