Man shot in leg outside Glendale McDonald's

GLENDALE , Ariz. -- Police are on the scene of a shooting outside a Glendale McDonald's.

It happened at 44th and Glendale avenues shortly before 7 a.m. Investigators believe it started as an attempted robbery.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, a man was shot in the leg outside the restaurant. That man walked into the McDonald's and asked the employees to call for help.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. His condition was not immediately available, but his injuries reportedly were not life-threatening.

Police reportedly were searching the area for an Hispanic male in his 20s. A K9 unit was called to to assist with that search. Officers on the scene believe the suspect was armed with a rifle. Officers have not released any other suspect information.
