PHOENIX -- Police say a man who was renting a room in a Phoenix home discovered several people removing marijuana from the attic.
At approximately 3 p.m. Sunday, Phoenix police officers went to a home near Southern Avenue and 10th Drive in response to an aggravated assault.
The 23-year-old victim told the officers that he was inside his bedroom when he heard noises in the hallway. He said he opened his door and saw several people removing what appeared to be "bricks" of marijuana from the attic.
According to Detective James Holmes, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and said, "Get back in your room and you did not see anything."
The victim waited until all the suspects left the home then called police.
Officers learned the victim had found the room through an advertisement on Craigslist, rented it and moved in just four days earlier.
Holmes said officers detained some of the suspects as they returned to the home, but they did not have the suspected drugs in their possession.
While searching for the suspect who had pointed the gun at the victim, officers discovered another 45 pounds of suspected marijuana inside the home.
Police arrested Jared Willers, 23, the homeowner who had recently purchased the foreclosed property and rented the room to the victim. Officers also arrested Clark Furlow, 33, Charlene Henry, 36, and Shanara Lawrence, 26. All were booked into jail for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell/distribute.
Detectives learned Furlow, Henry and Lawrence may have just arrived in Phoenix from out of state.
