PHOENIX -- A car crashed into a home early Sunday morning leading to the discovery of a man who had been shot, according to Officer James Holmes with the Phoenix Police Department.
Police were called to the scene in the area of 3600 W. Fillmore at about 1:40 a.m. That's near 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street.
The 28-year-old shooting victim was rushed to a hospital and immediately taken into surgery.
Officer Holmes said the victim was not cooperative with police but a witness reported seeing an unknown male exiting the driver's side of the car and fleeing after the car hit the house.
"The ambulance came and they told us that the guy that was injured in the car he had a gunshot in his right side on his stomach," said Mario Yanez, who was in the home when the car hit. "I told him 'are you alright,' and he's like, 'call the ambulance, call the ambulance,' and I called the ambulance fast."
Police have no motive and no suspect information at this time.
Detectives are working the investigation.
The victim was listed in serious condition.
Nobody inside the home was injured.
There is extensive structural damage to the front of home.
