CAMP VERDE – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person whose remains were found by hunters in Yavapai County over the weekend. Detectives are calling the person's death a homicide.

Hunters found the partially covered and decomposing remains near the Child’s-Irving Power Plant Campground north of Stehr Lake, southeast of Camp Verde.

An autopsy determined the person likely died within the last 12 months, was approximately 5-feet-5-inches tall and between 20 and 40 years old. The sex and race are unknown. The person had a narrow, repetitive chain-like tattoo along the upper back extending to both sides. Detectives also found a rectangular metal belt buckle with a die cut design on it and a “Kwikset” key on a small metal ring.

If you can help identify this person, call the Yavapai County Criminal investigations Bureau at (928) 771-3278 and ask for Detective Alex Jaramillo. Information can also be reported anonymously to Yavapai County Silent Witness at (800) 932-3232, or text the word “busted” followed by the tip to 411247.
