QUEEN CREEK -- A horse was rescued after being trapped in a hole in Pinal County southeast of Queen Creek.

A professional cowboy and his beloved 7-year-old mare, Sparkles, fell into a narrow hole in Pinal County Thursday morning. A younger horse who was being trained fell on top of them but managed to get out herself.

"She was on top of us and she basically came out walking on top of us," Dave Blackwell said.

Blackwell was able to get out safely, but Sparkles was stuck for more than two hours.
