GOLDEN VALLEY, Ariz. – Hikers discovered human remains in a dry wash in Golden Valley Saturday morning, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

The remains were found in a desert area near Shinarump Drive and Desert View Trail.

Deputies and detectives responded to the area after receiving a call from the hikers at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The remains of the victim, who is described as an older white male, were badly decomposed, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter.

Identification and cause of death are pending autopsy reports.
