PHOENIX -- Can adding just a few special foods to your "regular" diet, help you lose weight? Herbal pharmacist David Foreman says it can happen, if you get back to basics in your eating habits.

"It's about putting the right foods back into your diet and taking the bad ones out," Foreman explains.

Foreman says he's not against meat, but advises using leaner cuts. However, one of his top choices for food is beans, like white kidney beans.

If you have a problem with starchy foods like bread, pastas, and bagels, you should look for an ingredient called Phase Two, which comes from the white kidney bean. Phase Two can be found in health food store supplements, like Carb Intercept.

Almonds also have many health benefits. "Just a handful of almonds, every day, for six months, people noticed an 18 percent decrease in their own body fat," says Foreman. "They're really high in the good fats."

You can add fish oil to your diet for Omega 3 health and weight-loss benefits. Foreman also likes chia seeds, which help you feel fuller, longer. Seeds can be mixed into juice or water, sprinkled on salads and other foods, added to smoothies and used in batter and baked goods.

Foreman's best advice overall: clean out your pantry. "Get rid of refined, processed foods," he says. "Make sure you're active. I recommend brisk walking 30 minutes a day. And get on a good supplement program".
