SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- This year's Waste Management Phoenix Open is going green, and we're not talking about the grass. They're offering spectators incentives to go green by recycling their trash.

It's all about being environmentally responsible and leaving the TPC Scottsdale landscape just as it was before the big party.

As April Warnecke explains one unique feature at the 2011 Phoenix Open is the 15 recycling kiosks that can turn your trash -- party cups, bottles and cans -- into treasure.

"If you put it [your trash] in the trash, you don't get anything," said Dan Vermeer of Waste Management, the event's sponsor. "If you take it to one of our kiosks, you can actually win something."

Prizes include coupons for food and drinks and even tickets to sporting events.

In addition to the recycling kiosks, the Phoenix Open is also harnessing the power of the sun, using solar units to power the TV monitors and lights in some of the tents.

"This is incredible," Vermeer said. "You can take a golf course, take it into a city that 100,000 people visit every day for five days, and then turn it back into a golf course and not impact the environment. That's incredible."
