PHOENIX -- Gov. Jan Brewer has used a ceremonial signing to help implement a new law that closes a loophole that previously allowed "johns" to use the excuse that they did not know a child prostitute was underage, if the child involved was 15, 16 or 17-years-old.
The signing took place Wednesday at Streetlight PHX, a facility being built to provide a safe house for victims of child prostitution.
The bill also makes it at least a class 6 felony to engage in prostitution with a minor who is 15, 16 or 17.
It also toughens certain sentencing requirements for indecent exposure and public sexual indecency.
