Glendale, Ariz. -- Police are investigating two home overnight invasions that left one person dead.

Tracey Breeden of the Glendale Police Department said it happened early Sunday morning at an apartment complex near 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road.

Police said two men were shot. One was killed. The surviving victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious condition.

Witnesses tell police four heavily armed suspects wearing bullet-proof vests entered the property and shot the victims. Their names have not been released.

"It's scary for anybody having to deal with that, whether you're a police officer or a citizen," explained Breeden. "Because these guys, you don't wear a ballistics vest for anything, you wear it for a reason, and you're carrying guns you plan on harming somebody."

Police are looking for a white 4-door Chevy Impala that is possibly missing rims on the rear tires.
