Map: Body found
PHOENIX – Fire crews responding to a brush fire off Interstate 17 Wednesday morning discovered a body.
Shortly before 5 a.m., the Daisy Mountain Fire Department was called to the scene of a small fire along the side of the highway between New River and Black Canyon City.
Capt. Dave Wilson said when firefighters arrived to put out the flames, they found a body.
The fire was extinguished and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Public Safety began an investigation.
The victim has been identified as Jerome McGill, 28, of Phoenix. The investigation is ongoing.
