GLENDALE -- Two people were wounded, one of them severely, in an early morning double stabbing in Glendale, and the suspect is on the loose.

It happened at about 6 a.m. at the Heatherbrae Apartments off of 60th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Glendale police have confirmed that the victims are father and son. The 47-year-old man and 14-year-old boy were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.

The father had been stabbed several times in the abdomen and upper torso. He was in serious condition when he was taken to the hospital. The teen was wounded in the arm. His injuries were not life threatening and he received medical treatment and was released.

Initially, some people on the scene had said the stabbing might have started as a domestic-violence situation, but police later said there was a suspect on the loose.

The motive for the stabbing remains unclear, but the person detectives said they are looking for is an African American male in his late 20s. He's about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. Investigators are still trying to get information about what that suspect was wearing, said Det. Mark Langford of the Glendale Police Department.

Police say the victims knew the suspect.

The apartment complex was placed on lockdown and police did set up a perimeter to search for that suspect.

Anyone who has any information about what happened this morning is asked to contact the Glendale Police Department.
