PHOENIX (AP) -- A bank robbery task force has arrested a man believed to be the so-called "Band-Aid bandit."

Phoenix FBI Special Agent in Charge Nathan Thomas Gray says 43-year-old Samuel Cresante was arrested Friday without incident in Phoenix.

Cresante is accused of numerous bank robberies in Gilbert, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Queen Creek between last June and earlier this month.

Authorities say the banks were robbed by a man who was sometimes armed and who tried to disguise himself by wearing an arm sling, various bandages on his face and even fake blood.

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force includes police departments in Phoenix, Mesa and Scottsdale, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.
