PHOENIX -- In a trial where nothing ever seems to start on time and where everything seems to run longer than expected, domestic violence expert Alyce LaViolette was on the witness stand for her fifth day in Jodi Arias' marathon murder trial.

The day, however, was cut short when LaViolette complained of feeling ill just before the lunch break.

Judge Sherry Stephens then adjourned the court until tomorrow morning.

Before the unscheduled delay, however, LaViolette was able to tell jurors that she believes the relationship between Jodi Arias and Travis Alexander was "domestically abusive."

LaViolette's testimony is critical to the defense's case as Arias defense lawyers try to paint a portrait of Travis Alexander as a sexually-demanding and abusive boyfriend and Jodi Arias as his all-too-eager "sex toy" and victim.
