PHOENIX – A 60-year-old woman was attacked by two dogs in Anthem Wednesday morning.

According to Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Phil Dyer, a woman was walking her dog near 43rd Avenue and Anthem Way when two pit bulls attacked them.

Neighbors said the dogs came from an abandoned house.

A neighbor, Hank Todero, heard the attack and used a golf club to hit the dogs. He managed to get the victim and her dog, a chow, into a garage and then called 911.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries and her dog was taken to a pet hospital.

The dogs that attacked the woman were seized by Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.
