FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) -- An Arizona Department of Corrections van carrying 12 people including 10 inmates has rolled over near Florence.

Authorities say one corrections officer sustained minor injuries and is being treated at an area hospital. The second officer was uninjured, but is being checked by medical personnel as a precaution.

Two inmates have been taken by ground ambulance to a hospital, but there's no immediate word on the severity of their injuries.

State Department of Public Safety officials say the vehicle flipped about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday some 20 miles south of Florence on State Route 79.

DOC spokesman Doug Nick says there were 10 inmates and two staff members are part of the wild land fire crew out of the Florence prison facility.

The accident occurred as the crew was returning from an assignment in Oro Valley headed to the Arizona State Prison Complex in Florence where the inmates are housed.

DPS officials say it isn't immediately clear why the van rolled over.

A spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public safety said investigators are looking for a newer white Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban with an older white male driver who may have been involved in the crash and left the scene going southbound.

Two nurses who work for the Department of Corrections health care provider, Corizon, happened upon the scene of the accident moments after it occurred and were able to provide immediate medical attention.

Television footage showed about seven orange jumpsuit-clad inmates apparently uninjured and standing on the side of the road near the van, which was on its side.
