BUCKEYE, Ariz. -- The driver of a tractor-trailer was seriously injured after a multi-vehicle collision on westbound Interstate 10 at Verrado Way Tuesday morning.
According to Officer Robert Bailey with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the driver of a commercial tractor-trailer hauling trash rear-ended another semi-truck at approximately 8:15 a.m.
The driver of the truck hauling trash was trapped and required extrication. He was seriously injured and was airlifted to a local trauma center.
As a result of the initial crash, three other vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision.
Bailey said three people involved in that crash were treated for minor injuries.
DPS closed westbound traffic for a time to allow tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles.
