PHOENIX -- A young child who went missing from a Valley motel has been found safe at a stranger's home not far from that motel.

Phoenix Police said on Thursday night that 3-year-old Stephon San Miguel was located safe and sound.

Police said a woman called them shortly after seeing news reports about the missing boy around 10:00 p.m., telling officers that Miguel had been dropped off at her home earlier in the day. According to police, a woman named "Booster" dropped the child off at the strangers home around 4:00 p.m.

"Booster," which police believe is a nickname, is one of two woman who were apparently partying with the boy's father, Dominique San Miguel, 23, in the early morning hours, Thursday. Miguel was with his father and his 5-year-old sibling at the Motel 6 near Interstate 17 and Indian School Rd. when the father invited the two women he hadn't met before up to his room at around 4 or 5 a.m.

According to a spokesman with the Phoenix Police Dept., the father said he had been celebrating with friends at his family's house when at around 4:00 a.m. he decided to check into the motel with his sons. Dominique San Miguel told police he met a woman named "Booster" while checking into the motel.

"Booster," later identified as Candace Clark, 31, called Mr. San Miguel and she and another acquaintance, Sophia Mendez Deltoro, 38, went to San Miguel's hotel room where the three where allegedly drinking alcohol while the women, Clark and Deltoro, were also using methamphetamine.

Police said after a short period of time, the group decided to drive around in San Miguel's truck, 2005 Chevy Avalanche, with the children.

After approximately one hour, the group returned to the mote room where San Miguel said he passed out. When Dominique awoke, at around 1:00 p.m. his 5-year-old son was still in the room, but both women and his 3- year-old son, Stephon, were gone. When he began looking for them, he also discovered that his wallet, phone and truck were all missing. San Miguel then called police to report the missing child.

Cell phone records showed the father called his ex-wife and mother of the boys around 7:30 a.m. However, police don't  think the mother, who does not have custody, was involved with the disappearance of the boy.

As part of the investigation, information about the missing child and truck were broadcast on the evening news. At around 10:30 p.m., after seeing the news broadcast, the owner of a home in the area of 2100 W. Jefferson St. called police and reported a friend of hers named “Booster” had left a child matching Stephon’s description at her home earlier in the day and the child was still there. Stephon was then recovered unharmed.

A short time later Phoenix Police officers located the stolen vehicle at an apartment complex in the area of 2900 West Camelback Rd. The vehicle was occupied by Clark and Deltoro. Both women were taken into custody.

Clark denied being “Booster”, she admitted “partying” with Dominique, and said someone named “Boxer” was the one who took Stephon from the room. No suspect named “Boxer” was located.

Candace was booked for kidnapping, theft of a means of transportation and for warrants. The passenger found in the stolen vehicle with Clark, Deltoro, was booked for possession of dangerous drugs and the father, Dominique San Miguel, was booked for two counts of child neglect.
