TOLLESON, Ariz. -- Rural Metro Fire Department said they responded to a barn fire in Tolleson early Sunday morning.
According to fire officials, there were eight semi tractors and 13 trailers full of hay that caught on fire.
“We do not know how this fire started, there will be an investigation to determine that, I believe this business has some surveillance video,” said Colin Williams with Rural Metro Fire.
The building is expected to continue burning until at least Monday, as fire officials say the best practice when dealing with a hay fire is to let it burn.
“The best way to fight this fire is to protect the surrounding buildings, make sure the fire doesn't spread to the additional hay stored here, and we really kind of want to let the fire burn, that's the quickest way to reduce the smoke and have the least amount of impact on the environment,” said Williams.
No injuries have been reported, but those in the area can expect to deal with lots of smoke for the next several hours.
