PHOENIX -- An 18-year-old Avondale man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found in a Phoenix apartment.
Detectives arrested Horace Edwin Johnson III on Friday. Johnson was found with a 9mm handgun in his waistband and approximately one-fourth pound of marijuana in a backpack, according to court documents.
Management of an apartment complex near Camelback Road and 15th Avenue found Floyd Prince's body in a unit on Jan. 3. Police said he was killed a couple of weeks earlier.
An autopsy revealed that Prince had been shot one time in the back of the head.
According to police, ballistics tests indicate that the gun found on Johnson when he was arrested was used to kill Prince.
Johnson faces first-degree murder, possession of marijuana for sale and weapons charges.
A judge set his bond at $500,000.
