PHOENIX (AP) -- An Arizona legislator is considering a possible plea agreement in a criminal case stemming from a February altercation with his now former girlfriend.
A Phoenix Municipal Court judge had scheduled a Monday morning pretrial hearing for Republican Sen. Scott Bundgaard of Peoria.
But the judge postponed the hearing until Monday afternoon at the request of defense and prosecution attorneys. They said talks on a possible plea agreement are under way elsewhere in the same courthouse.
Bundgaard previously pleaded not guilty to single misdemeanor counts of assault and endangerment in the case that authorities allege involved domestic violence.
Bundgaard was charged in June following a police investigation into the altercation that occurred on a Phoenix freeway as Bundgaard and Aubry Ballard returned from a charity event.
Ballard was not charged.
