PHOENIX  -- A man who police say has confessed to several sexual assaults faces 16 charges in connection with three separate incidents.

Jose Ephrain Gomez-Gomez was indicted Thursday on 16 counts including sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual abuse, kidnapping, robbery and burglary.

Gomez was arrested November 14 after forensic evidence led investigators to him. He admitted to police he was involved in two recent sexual assaults as well as an assault in 2007.

The first assault happened on May 17, 2007, when a 16-year-old was grabbed from behind by a then unknown suspect, but not sexually assaulted.

On July 14, 2007, an adult female was asleep in her home when the suspect entered her home and sexually assaulted her.

The most recent attack happened on July 26. A 19-year-old female was staying at her parents' house in Phoenix when a suspect entered the house and sexually assaulted her. Forensic evidence was obtained from that scene.

Gomez, who is believed to be an illegal immigrant from Honduras, has no previous criminal record.
