PHOENIX -- Arizona Public Service Co. crews are busy attempting to restore power after a Monday night storm slammed the greater Phoenix area. APS spokeswoman Jenna Henry said about 9,500 customers are without power.

At the high point of the storm, about 250,000 were without power stretching from Wickenburg to Scottsdale.

Henry said the principal areas that power crews are dealing with are central and north-central Phoenix after trees were blown down over power lines.

However, it could be later in the day before everyone is fully restored.

Snow and high winds led to power outages in northeastern Arizona.

Henry said 10,000 customers including some in Flagstaff and Payson are without power, down from 40,000 early Tuesday.

In northwest Arizona, 4,500 customers are without power.

Despite the weather and treacherous roads, Henry said crews are making progress in getting the power restored in northeast and northwestern Arizona.
