PRESCOTT (AP) -- Arizona Department of Transportation crews will begin work on an unstable slope along the southbound lanes of Interstate 17 just south of Sunset Point next week.

The slope has become rain-saturated and ADOT engineers are worried because it shifted and exposed rocks.

One of two southbound lanes of the main route between Flagstaff and Phoenix will be closed between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights for two weeks starting on Monday night. Drivers could be delayed up to 30 minutes.

Crews will repair the slope by removing loose rocks to reduce the risk of rock falls.

Drivers are urged to use caution and slow down in the work area.
