SCOTTSDALE -- A million dollar Scottsdale home went up in flames right after it went into foreclosure, and now we’re hearing 911 calls for the first time.

Smoke poured out of the home near Pinnacle Peak and Pima last week. The house was on the market for $3.2 million, but then went into foreclosure, and caught on fire.

“It’s burning … smoky … something is definitely on fire,” the caller told 911 dispatchers November 13.

That woman’s description was right on the money – something was definitely on fire. It was a mountainside mansion in an upscale neighborhood of North Scottsdale.

“… and you can smell it,” the caller continued. “It’s a woody smell.”

While the 911 caller was on the other side of the mountain and could not see the flames, she says she could see and smell the smoke.

“There is a huge cloud. We can’t see light, but boy you can sure see the smoggy smoke,” she said.

Scottsdale police and fire department investigators are still probing the cause of the blaze, which completely destroyed the nearly 9,000-square foot luxury home. The home had gone into foreclosure and was about to be auctioned off. One man inside the home at the time of the fire escaped without injury.

Now police and fire officials say they may have an update on the investigation into the cause of the blaze by the end of the week.
