BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Department of Corrections is investigating an inmate death at the Lewis prison west of Phoenix.
The inmate, identified as 36-year-old Armando Lugo, was found unresponsive in the shower area inside Lewis Morey Unit.
He was pronounced dead by emergency medical responders just after 10 p.m. Friday.
Lugo was sentenced out of Maricopa County and was serving 7 1/2 years for burglary.
The death is under investigation by the Department of Corrections Criminal Investigations Unit.
