PHOENIX (AP) — Maricopa County authorities say they have arrested 18 store clerks who allegedly sold liquor to minors.

The County Sheriff's Office says of the 18 clerks arrested, three of them are suspected of being illegal immigrants.

The arrests culminated a sting operation Wednesday night in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Authorities say the owners of the liquor businesses in violation may also face civil sanctions by the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control.
