MARANA, Ariz. (AP) — A Phoenix man has been booked into the Pima County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault after shots were fired from a stolen pickup truck at an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer.
Authorities say 31-year-old Juan Jesus Lebario also was booked on charges of felony flight, possession of a stolen vehicle and criminal damage. DPS says there also was an outstanding warrant for Lebario on a vehicle theft charge.
DPS says the pickup's driver fired twice at the officer late Saturday afternoon on Interstate 10 north of Tucson.
The patrol car was struck on the passenger side, but the officer was not hurt.
The man led officers on a chase along I-10 and side roads around Marana before spike strips disabled his vehicle and he was arrested.
