GLENDALE, Ariz. -- With more than 7,000 jobs up for grabs at Thursday's Goodwill Career Expo, there's bound to be something that interests almost any job seeker.

"Pretty much anything you're looking for you can find here today," Goodwill spokeswoman Summer Durham said, explaining that 150 companies were taking part in the massive event at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Those companies will be screening and interviewing prospective employees, and many will be hiring on the spot. It's relatively unusual, but you could leave the event with a job.

There are a variety of available positions, everything from entry level to professional, barista to engineer.

Participating companies including Charles Schwab, Banner Health, PetSmart, Wells Fargo, Arizona State University, DISH Network, Boeing, McDonald's, Domino's Pizza, AlphaGraphics, FedEx, OfficeMax, RadioShack, Verizon Wireless, Progressive Insurance and Sapphire Technology Group, to name a few. A complete list is available on GoodwillAZ.org.

Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes and, of course, dress for success.

The event also features an array of workshops designed to help those who are on the hunt for a job, as well as a computer center so people can research companies, fill out online applications and print out copies of their resumes.

Aerial video from the Fort McDowell Casino News Chopper showed hundreds of people lined up outside the stadium about 30 minutes before the gates were set to open.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Arizona's unemployment is rate is hovering at 7.9 percent, which is slightly more than the national rate of 7.6 percent. Looking at just Phoenix, Mesa and Glendale, the unemployment rate is lower -- 6.7 percent. It's a different story in Arizona's other metro areas.

The Goodwill Career Expo is open through 4 p.m. For more information, check out GoodwillAZ.org or call 602-535-4000.
