PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is now conducting random baggage checks following the arrest of a couple who allegedly stole nearly 1,000 bags of luggage.
Sky Harbor officials announced Tuesday that airline staff will now randomly check that luggage identification matches passengers' ID or claim checks.
Other changes include increased video surveillance and police patrols in the baggage claim area.
Authorities advise passengers to mark luggage clearly and pick up bags as soon as possible upon arrival.
Law enforcement arrested 61-year-old Keith King and his wife, 38-year-old Stacy Lynne Legg-King last week on burglary and possession of stolen property charges.
Police found personal belongings piled from floor to ceiling in their Phoenix-area home.
