PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona officials are warning people not to be alarmed if they see some mysterious lights in the night sky.
Flares are scheduled to be dropped Thursday night from attack aircraft onto targets as part of a U.S. Air Force training exercise.
State Rep. Jerry Weiers (wires) says it's part of a routine training exercise at the Barry M. Goldwater Range in southwest Arizona.
Civic leaders from around Arizona have been invited to observe the training exercise and see how the Air Force prepares military personnel for night operations on the battlefield.
Weiers is a Phoenix Republican who chairs the state House Military Affairs and Public Safety Committee.
