PHOENIX -- Two major gang leaders were arrested Thursday when authorities from multiple agencies executed search and arrest warrants at two Phoenix locations this morning.
3TV was the only station on the scene.
At about 6:30 a.m., officers with ATF, the Phoenix Police Department’s Gang Unit, and Homeland Security Investigations arrested a man at a home near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road. A woman also was arrested at an apartment complex about a mile away near 21st Avenue and Hazelwood Street.
At this point, police have not released the names or any details about the two suspects, saying only they that are believed to be gang leaders.

Investigators said gangs are changing, and members are not always where you might expect to find them.
“Where we traditionally saw gang neighborhoods, we can’t think in those terms anymore,” Phoenix Police Lt. Sean Connolly said. “[W]e’re further north in the city taking out what is a traditional south-side gang member.”
While not directly connected to Wednesday’s massive multi-agency raid on the Winding Creek apartment complex, which is located in the same general area, Thursday’s arrests are part of an ongoing investigation to help combat gangs and the violence and illegal activity associated with them.
