ELOY -- Authorities in Pinal County say two men died and three others were badly hurt after a truck rolled over on a dirt road near Eloy while trying to elude U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Lt. Tamatha Villar says the agents had tried to stop the Dodge pickup on Arizona 87 north of Eloy on Tuesday morning but were not chasing it when the accident happened.

Villar says the truck's driver turned onto a dirt road in a farming area and the driver nearly stopped, then sped away and created a large dust cloud.

The agents followed the dust trail and arrived at the scene minutes after all five men were ejected in the crash.

The three survivors were airlifted to a Phoenix hospital, where two were on life support Tuesday afternoon.

Villar says four of the five are suspected illegal immigrants.
