PHOENIX -- One person is dead after a Dodge pickup truck plowed into a Ford Mustang after allegedly running a red light. Police believe the driver, now identifieded as Adrian Salvador Arroyo-Razo, was drunk at the time.

It happened shortly before 3 a.m. at 51st Avenue and Indian School Road, just northeast of Maryvale Baseball Park.

According to witnesses, the truck was eastbound on Indian School Road and had already run several red lights.

That truck slammed into a Mustang that was northbound on 51st Avenue. The driver of the Mustang was killed. He has been identified as Ronald Lowe, 32. Lowe was not wearing his seat belt and the airbag did deploy.

Police, believing Arroyo-Razo had been drinking, are calling this a DUI case. Speed also is believed to have been a factor in the deadly crash.

Arroyo-Razo was taken into police custody and has been booked on several felony counts, including second-degree murder.

The front-seat passenger in the truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local trauma center where he remains in serious but stable condition. The two back seat passengers where not seriously injured during the collision.

Video from the scene showed the truck on one side of the street. The wrecked Mustang was on the other side. The intersection was closed for several hours while investigators tried to piece together exactly what happened.
