PHOENIX-- Nearly 300 families took advantage of St. Mary's mobile pantry on Friday at Desert Christian Community Church. St. Mary's brought in more than 14,000 pounds of food.
"We have over 40 of these mobile pantry's across the state and 30 in the valley. Some are once a week, some are twice a week. We try to go where the need is greatest," said Jerry Brown with St. Mary's Food Bank.
Those who came out were grateful for the help, including the clothes provided by Desert Christian Community Church.
"It helps a lot, I can't explain how much it helps," said Albert Preciado, a father of four .
Brown says the latest statistics shows when it comes to hunger in Arizona one out of every four people go hungry everyday, and it's not getting any better.
"While it's dropping nationally down to 18% from 20%, we went up from 21% to 30%, "said Brown.
