PHOENIX (AP) -- A federal judge in Phoenix didn't rule on a lawsuit to block Arizona's new immigration law after hearing two hours of testimony.

The hearing Thursday focused on only one of seven suits seeking to block the law from going into effect on July 29.

Lawyers for a Phoenix police officer who says he could lose his job if he doesn't enforce the law argued it should be blocked. Attorneys for Arizona governor Jan Brewer argued that the officer's lawsuit should be dismissed because he lacks standing to sue.

U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton did not indicate when she will rule.

Hearings on two more lawsuits, including one filed by the federal government, are set for next week.
